The Maasai people social organization systems is based on age-set, clans and politically independent Iloshon or locations. The traditional Maasai system of government is decentralized , with every age-set of every section(Olosho) having its own elected political as well as ritual leaders(inkasisin o Losho). Maasai young males are recruited into an age-set according to their approximate age and initiation(circumcision time). Each age-set normally organizes and regulates its age-set matters independently. Age-sets are very important in the Maasai society. Below is the list of the most recent age-sets.
